Softball Recap: Gaston Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gaston extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 5-8 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Vernonia Loggers. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

As for Vernonia, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

For Vernonia's part, Chloe Schumburg was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Schumburg's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Busch, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gaston will face off against Western Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Vernonia, they will square off against Santiam at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
