The Hedgesville Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Musselman Applemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hedgesville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Hedgesville and Martinsburg had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles blew past the Bulldogs 16-6 on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Maggie Boyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brenna Cunningham, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Dollar, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Musselman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-7 to Jefferson. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 5, 2025, but that streak is no more.
Camryn Mallow made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia McClintock, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Hedgesville's record is now 12-6. As for Musselman, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
Hedgesville couldn't quite finish off Musselman in their previous meeting back in March and fell 7-5. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
