The result was an unpleasant reminder to Ben Lippen of the 50-43 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Wednesday.
Josiah Peeples was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals for Cardinal Newman. Desmond Harrington was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Ben Lippen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Cardinal Newman, they pushed their record up to 16-14 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Ben Lippen will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Augusta Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Falcons in their respective states (the Lions are ranked 30th in Georgia, while the Falcons are ranked 101st in South Carolina). As for Cardinal Newman, they will be playing at home against the Skyhawks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
