Chestnut Ridge has gone 6-1 against Richland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Chestnut Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Chestnut Ridge was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Bishop McCort 6-5. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Crushers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Ally Yarnell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Callihan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Richland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over River Valley last Tuesday.
Elle Ladika and Alea Ladika did most of the damage at the plate: Elle went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Alea went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Alea a new career-high. Jenna Jordan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Richland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Valley struck out eight times.
Chestnut Ridge now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Richland, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Chestnut Ridge's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Richland, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chestnut Ridge continue to outrun the ball?
Chestnut Ridge got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Richland by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
