The Monterey Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 13th straight loss. They took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Midway. Monterey was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Midway apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Monterey's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Roberson-Barber, who scored 17 points. Roberson-Barber hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Fowler, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Monterey's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Midway, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey will take on Smith County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midway, they will play host again and welcome Sunbright, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
