The Collierville Dragons were the 70-52 winner over the Haywood Tomcats when they last played one another back in November of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Collierville fell just short of Haywood by a score of 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jaybyon Snipe was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds for Haywood. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Michael Tyus, who scored 14 points.
Collierville's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Haywood, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Collierville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Germantown at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Haywood won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Melrose at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Melrose is on a four-game streak of home wins, Haywood a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
