Football Recap: Freeburg Piles Up the Points Against East Alton-Wood River

While Freeburg put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for East Alton-Wood River. The Midgets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Oilers 63-0. The matchup marked the Midgets' most dominant victory of the season.

Freeburg found their leader in sophomore Cooper Kisgen, who rushed for 84 yards and three TDs. James Thomas was another key player, rushing for 80 yards and one touchdown.

Freeburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 403 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Freeburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brady Kerr and Kyle Stinchcomb.

Freeburg's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for East Alton-Wood River, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Kisgen and Trey Clark. Meanwhile, East Alton-Wood River will square off against rival Roxana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
