The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They skirted past Saint John Paul the Great Catholic 56-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Stephen's & St. Agnes also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Despite the loss, Saint John Paul the Great Catholic still got an impressive performance from Nina Velandria, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Angelica Morales was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-14. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will challenge Madeira at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Paul VI at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Saint John Paul the Great Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
