Trumann extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bay Yellowjackets. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 11-1.
Peyton Chaffin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Braydon Passmore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Trumann is 2-1 when Passmore posts two or more runs, but 1-11 otherwise. Jacob Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Bay, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.
On Bay's side, Jaden Dacus was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Dacus has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bay let Cade Spencer and Jacob Willard run wild. Spencer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI, while Willard went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Cossey, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trumann will head out to challenge West Memphis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bay, they will venture away from home to take on Manila at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
