Basketball Recap: Antwahn Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pahrump Valley over Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon

Pahrump Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate. The Trojans were probably out for revenge after losing 63-52 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pahrump Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Antwahn Jackson, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Jackson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Gavenda, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Pahrump Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shane Stock, who had 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Ameperosa, who put up 14 points.

Pahrump Valley's record now sits at 4-12. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-6.

Pahrump Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-41 defeat against Boulder City on the 13th. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 90-54 victory against Innovations International on the 13th.
