The Lithia Springs Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Midtown 81-46. While losing is never fun, Lithia Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Midtown is ranked 42nd).
Lithia Springs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brielle Holland, who scored eight points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Parris Hawkins, who scored nine points.
Midtown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sinclair Richman led the charge by scoring 12 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Briaiah Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Lithia Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Midtown, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Villa Rica the next time they take the court. Lithia Springs will host Villa Rica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Midtown will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
