Lorain had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. Everything went their way against the Bedford Bearcats as they made off with an 18-8 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-7 on April 7th.
Olivia Charlton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Lorain got a massive performance out of Alysandria Lighty, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Lighty is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Jayla King was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Lorain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They are 10-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lorain pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Bedford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
