The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lake Highlands, who took down 50th ranked Dallas Jesuit, 20-17.
Rhett Svetgoff and Blake Fletcher provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Berkner. The connection was good for 51 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region II District 9 this season.
Svetgoff put up the best numbers through the air as Pearce fell to the Rams. He finished with five completions for 127 yards and one touchdown. Svetgoff's favorite target this week was Fletcher, who caught one pass for 51 yards.
Calvin Jones provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Berkner bested the Mustangs. He completed seven passes for 66 yards and also ran for 331 yards. Jones' favorite target this week was Yedidiah Louis, who caught five passes for 56 yards.
Pearce's Svetgoff and J.r. Griffin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Svetgoff has thrown for 1017 yards this season, while Griffin has 33 catches for 413 yards. Jones from Jim Ledford's team leads the league in rushing with 698 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Randy Robertson's team takes on the Rangers. The Mustangs' offense has recorded 221 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Dallas Jesuit has permitted only 140 on the year.
A big matchup in 5A Region II District 9 this week will be when Skyline takes on Richardson. At the moment, the Raiders are in first, while the Eagles are in fourth.
Skyline extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sunset, 56-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the Reginald Samples' team.
