Even though the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, the Pueblo South Colts still came out on top. Pueblo South walked away with a 67-58 win over Mesa Ridge. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pueblo South.
Maurice Austin had a dynamite game for Pueblo South, scoring 35 points along with 9 assists and 7 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Austin has scored at least 25% of Pueblo South's points. Another player making a difference was Sergio Salazar, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
Bryce Riehl and Tanner Widic certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Riehl scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals, while Widic scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The contest was Riehl's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Tevin Riehl was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 3 steals.
Pueblo South now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mesa Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo South will take on Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lewis-Palmer's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mesa Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Pine Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
