Crittenden County extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-12. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Webster County Trojans. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 12-9.
Quinn Summers put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Summers was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Summers wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Lovell, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
As for Webster County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-9. Six seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
On Webster County's side, Gunnar Boone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. Boone also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Trojans are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trace Hardison, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Zander Snyder was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crittenden County will venture away from home to take on Hickman County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Webster County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Muhlenberg County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
