Baseball Recap: Hoehne Takes a Loss

Hoehne lost against Crowley County on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Farmers came up short against the Chargers, falling 20-5. The Farmers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jayson Guzzo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hoehne's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Anthony Sandoval was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Hoehne's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Crowley County, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Hoehne will head out to square off against Rocky Ford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Meloneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.09 runs per game on average), something the Farmers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crowley County, they will host Peyton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
