Basketball Game Preview: Beaufort Eagles vs. Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes

Beaufort has won four straight games at home, while Ashley Ridge has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Beaufort Eagles will welcome the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Beaufort got the win against Whale Branch by a conclusive 39-17. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Beaufort got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Davariyah Smith out in front who posted 11 points. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Zaria Coaxum, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ashley Ridge beat Georgetown 56-51 on Monday. Given the Swamp Foxes' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in South Carolina, while the Eagles are ranked 53rd in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Beaufort better keep an eye on Skyla Tuthill. She was instrumental in Ashley Ridge's win, putting up 17 points and six rebounds. The game was Tuthill's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Johnson, who put up ten points and six rebounds.

Beaufort's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Ashley Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.

Beaufort was taken down by Ashley Ridge 87-39 in their previous matchup on December 2nd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tuthill, who posted 27 points in addition to five assists and five boards.
