The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles won the last time they faced the Fullerton Warriors, and things went their way on Thursday too. Lutheran-Northeast took down Fullerton 54-35. Given Lutheran-Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Fullerton is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Josh Rojas was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Tate Collison was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Kane Wetovick and Hunter Gochenour certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Wetovick scored 18 points, while Gochenour scored seven points. Wetovick hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games.
Lutheran-Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Fullerton, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran-Northeast will challenge St. Francis on Saturday. St. Francis will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Fullerton, they will head out on the road to face off against Heartland Lutheran on Saturday.
