Basketball Game Preview: Foothill Falcons vs. Basic Wolves

The Foothill Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Basic Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Foothill will head into Tuesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 32-point drubbing they dealt Mojave on Tuesday. Foothill took their game with ease, bagging a 55-23 win over Mojave.

Foothill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hanna Heiselbetz led the charge by putting up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Heiselbetz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Ezugha, who posted 15 points.

Meanwhile, Basic had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 51-38.

Foothill better keep an eye on Mia Frias. She was instrumental in Basic's win, earning 23 points and three steals. Frias' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamilyah (Star) Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Basic, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Foothill came up short against Basic in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 48-43. Can Foothill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
