Even though Hollywood Hills scored an imposing 31 points on Saturday, South Broward still came out on top. South Broward simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hollywood Hills 61-31 on the road. Given South Broward's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Hollywood Hills is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Broward to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Wheatley-humphrey, who rushed for 263 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Wheatley-humphrey was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Randy Phillips was another key contributor, throwing for 515 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was South Broward's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Richardson Toussaint and Charles Ross who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, Miramar made sure to put some points up on the board against Everglades on Friday. Miramar blew past Everglades, posting a 41-6 win at home.
Kael Alexander was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. Jordan Jones was in the mix as well, providing Miramar with two touchdowns.
South Broward's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for Miramar, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: South Broward has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 347 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Miramar, though, as they've been averaging only 95.8 per game. How will Miramar fare against such a dominant running game?
South Broward took a serious blow against Miramar when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 55-7. Will South Broward have more luck at home instead of on the road?
