Westran had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 60-51 win over the Northeast Bearcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-49 on December 5th.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cruze Haynes, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Marshall Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Westran's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Westran and Northeast should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Westran (ranked 63rd) will meet Community (ranked 462nd) at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Westran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Northeast (ranked 143rd) will meet Sturgeon (ranked 292nd) at 7:30 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
