The Williston Red Devils will take on the Chiefland Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Williston is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They fell 7-3 to Vanguard.
Williston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elliot Davis, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chiefland). They never let Bell get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Taylor Brown and Garrett Byrd made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Brown didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Byrd pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Brown a new career-low in earned runs (zero). At the plate, Brown went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Byrd went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Brown hit this season.
In other batting news, Trey Meeks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolan Doty, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Chiefland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Chiefland now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Williston, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
