Cameron Varga of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy was the closest thing to an automatic win in 2014. In leading his team to the Ohio Division III championship game, Varga was barely hittable during the season and scoring a run proved to be impossible.

The 60th overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, Varga went 10-0 during the season with eight of those wins being shutouts. He was one of a handful of pitchers in the nation this year to post a 0.00 ERA with a significant total of innings pitched.
Varga threw a no-hitter in his final game, a 3-0 win over Orrville in the state semifinals. He had five no-hitters on the season and set a national record with 33 straight strikeouts.
Besides being named the Ohio Gatorade State Player of the Year, Varga also earned the Division III State Player of the Year honor by the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association.
Varga also earns the honor of being the MaxPreps Small Schools Player of the Year. Varga edged out other small school standouts Carson Sands of North Florida Christian, Jakson Reetz of Norris and Foster Griffin of The First Academy.
The Small Schools All-American team consists of players who compete on teams that play in state enrollment divisions with generally under 1,000 students.

Posey is no newcomer to National Coach of the Year honors, as he was named by MaxPreps as the Small Schools National Coach of the Year in 2011. He earns the award again for leading his team through one of the most treacherous small-schools playoff brackets in the nation.
In winning the Florida Class 3A state playoffs, North Florida Christian finished first among a playoff bracket that produced 12 MLB Draft picks. Posey's team knocked off a Coral Springs Christian team (which had three draft picks) 1-0 in the semifinals and then topped an Orangewood Christian team (with two draft picks) 6-3 in the championship game.
Posey's team finished No. 17 in the
Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings with a 26-4 record. The state championship is Posey's fourth in his tenure at North Florida Christian, where he has won 21 district titles and nine regional championships in a 31-year coaching career. His career record is 609-268 and he has garnered four state titles.
His team had six college commits and two players (Matthew Railey and Cason Sands) were selected in the MLB Draft.
