The North Pitt Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Washington Pam Pack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Pitt is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for North Pitt, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-53 loss to Ayden - Grifton.
Despite their defeat, North Pitt saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keymauri Brooks, who scored 17 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamarcus Pippens, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, even though Greene Central scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Washington still came out on top. Washington walked away with a 68-60 victory over Greene Central. Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Greene Central is ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Pitt has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
North Pitt might still be hurting after the 75-49 defeat they got from Washington in their previous meeting back in January. Can North Pitt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
