The Smithsburg Leopards stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 72-43 win over Fort Hill. Given Smithsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Fort Hill is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Claire Bono continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with six steals and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Skyla Mastronardi was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Smithsburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Fort Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.
Smithsburg will head out on the road to square off against Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamsport is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Fort Hill, they will square off against Bishop Walsh at TBD on Friday.
