Hopewell entered their tilt with Matoaca on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They breezed past the Matoaca Warriors to the tune of 76-46. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 21 points or more this season.

Hopewell was led to victory by Deshawn Spellman and Nick Byrd. Spellman dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Byrd went 8 for 12 to rack up 21 points along with seven boards and six assists. The matchup was Byrd's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jamese Jordan, who posted ten points.

Hopewell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Hopewell's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Matoaca, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Hopewell will head out to take on Petersburg at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Petersburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. As for Matoaca, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-50 victory against Thomas Jefferson on the 10th.
