The Copper Canyon Aztecs will challenge the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
La Joya Community will be up against a hot Copper Canyon team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Aztecs blew past Washington 18-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Aztecs have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Copper Canyon got a big performance out of Jamie Molina, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Vida Mendoza, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, La Joya Community was not the first on the board last Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Independence by a score of 13-8. That's two games straight that the Fighting Lobos have won by exactly five runs.
Like Copper Canyon, La Joya Community also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabel Soares. Throwing, Soares tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Andrea Leon tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. At bat, Soares went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Leon scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Leon a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Anaya Romero was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Alexandra Soares was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
La Joya Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups.
La Joya Community has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Copper Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Copper Canyon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .503. However, it's not like La Joya Community struggles in that department as they've averaged .536. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Copper Canyon might still be hurting after the 25-10 defeat they got from La Joya Community in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Aztecs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
