5A Region 4 recap September 10, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Andrew Dunn and Jalen Smith connected against Greene County. The longest such play in 5A Region 4 this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Picayune was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Maroon Tide triumphed over D'Iberville 41-13.
Clayton Johnson and Justin Smith gave Stone a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Johnson threw for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Smith ran for 126 yards. Tavarus Fairley also contributed to the rushing game with 61 yards on the ground.

Smith was the best receiver in the league this week as Pascagoula beat the Wildcats. Smith tallied 5 receptions for 124 yards. Braylon Patton helped Pascagoula's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 44 yards.
Dunn provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers topped Greene County. He completed 15 passes for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 54 yards.
Johnson put up the best numbers through the air as Stone lost to Forrest County Agricultural. Johnson's favorite target this week was Chandler Jones, who caught 5 passes for 90 yards.
He was 10-17 with 0 interceptions.
Smith was the best running back in 5A Region 4 this week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Pascagoula's Dunn and Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-5 quarterback Dunn has thrown for 566 yards this season, while Smith has 11 catches for 277 yards. East Central's Jake Eaker leads the league in rushing yards with 283.
Long Beach lost to Poplarville 48-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Spencer Poole in the loss.
