The HEM Miners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 40-18 defeat at the hands of Southeast. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points HEM has scored all season.
Southeast found their leader in underclassman TJ Moats, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Moats also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Kannon Tippets was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
HEM's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Southeast, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
HEM will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rock River at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Southeast, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Lingle-Fort Laramie at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Lingle-Fort Laramie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 405 points over their last six matches.
