The Midlothian Panthers will challenge the Terrell Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Midlothian has five straight wins, Terrell has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Midlothian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Crandall, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Panthers never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Not much got past Abby Insley, who gave up just four hits to keep Crandall off the board.
At the plate, Aubrey Robledo was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Howard, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Robledo wasn't the only one making solid contact: Midlothian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Terrell duked it out with Kaufman on Tuesday. The Tigers lost 11-4 to the Lions. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lions since on Tuesday.
Midlothian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Terrell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
Everything went Midlothian's way against Terrell in their previous meeting back in March, as Midlothian made off with a 31-3 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
