The Washington Huskies will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Deer Valley Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Washington was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Antioch 4-2.
Ynez Lopez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Lopez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ariel Guerra was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Sophia Swyers, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley had to endure a 21-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Ygnacio Valley with a sharp 22-4 victory on Tuesday.
Like Washington, Deer Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Katalina Rogel. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Rogel was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Deer Valley let Braelyn Valdez and Lysette Marcial run wild. Valdez scored four runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Marcial scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Velasco-Basulto, who scored two runs and stole Three bases.
The win got Deer Valley back to even at 1-1. As for Washington, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Washington's way against Deer Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Washington made off with a 19-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
