Mount Michael Benedictine suffered a rough 74-52 defeat at the hands of Wahoo. While losing is never fun, Mount Michael Benedictine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Wahoo is ranked 25th).
Despite the loss, Mount Michael Benedictine still got an impressive performance from Harrison Long, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Long scored a full 32.7% of Mount Michael Benedictine's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jack Skahan was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Leading Wahoo to victory were Cody Hesser and Marcus Glock. Hesser scored 20 points along with three steals, while Glock dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Glock's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Elliot, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Mount Michael Benedictine are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5. As for Wahoo, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Michael Benedictine will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Seward on Friday. Wahoo will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Bishop Neumann at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Neumann is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
