Ninety Six has gone a perfect 5-0 against Pelion recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will face off against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Ninety Six is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Ninety Six is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against North Central by a score of 6-3. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.
Meanwhile, Pelion entered their tilt with Mid-Carolina on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over the Rebels. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Rhaygen Platts made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Ashlynn Bazzell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Pelion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matches.
Ninety Six's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Pelion, their record now sits at 16-6.
Ninety Six came out on top in a nail-biter against Pelion when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
