AAAA Region III recap Sept. 26, 2012
Dalton Helms and Dijuan Ussery provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Clover. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in AAAA Region III this season.
York extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rock Hill, 35-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Cougars.
Nation Ford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Helms threw for 381 and five touchdowns and Ussery had 153 yards receiving. On the ground Helms chipped in 21 yards. AK McCoy helped Nation Ford's passing attack out by catching three balls for 149 yards.
Nation Ford's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Helms has thrown for 1371 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while McCoy has 25 catches for 573 yards. Daniel Jackson leads the league in rushing with 296 yards.
The marquee game in AAAA Region III this week will be the clash between Northwestern and South Pointe. The Trojans enters the contest ranked third in the state, while the Stallions ranks fifth.
Northwestern took down Lancaster 48-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
