River View has gone 8-1 against Montcalm recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Generals at 5:30 p.m. River View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
River View took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Bluefield with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won four in a row.
Lilly Perkins was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Kyla Cooper was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
River View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Montcalm beat Greater Beckley Christian 5-2 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Generals have won by exactly three runs.
Adasyn Havens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton White, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cadence Crouch, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
River View's record is now 6-9. As for Montcalm, their record now sits at 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. River View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Montcalm struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
River View came out on top in a nail-biter against Montcalm in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
