Laurel had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 43-14 win over the Ellwood City Wolverine. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 22-point advantage.
Kolton Carlson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 108 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, and also picked up 82 receiving yards and one score. Those 108 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Nathan Hill was in the mix too, providing Laurel with two touchdowns.
