The Freeport Falcons will square off against the Greely Rangers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Freeport, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Greely's (thus far) undefeated season.
On Monday, Freeport didn't have quite enough to beat Morse and fell 4-3.
Ben Bolduc was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, while Greely put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Poland. The Rangers blew past the Knights 11-0. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.
Gehrig Donnelly looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Kyle Soule was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Wyatt Soucie was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Greely was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poland only posted a batting average of .100.
Greely pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Freeport, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Freeport suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Greely when the teams last played back in June of 2024. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
