The Briarwood Academy Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Gatewood Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Briarwood Academy: 18.1, Gatewood: 14.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Briarwood Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 21-6 win over the War Eagles. The win was familiar territory for Briarwood Academy who now have four in a row.
Briarwood Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hollis Evans, who rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and Charlie Mosley, who rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Mosley is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Gatewood stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Augusta Prep Day, posting a 54-12 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Gatewood sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Briarwood Academy's victory bumped their season record to 8-3 while Brentwood's defeat dropped theirs to 5-6.
