The Desert Vista Thunder stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They really took it to Highland for the full four quarters, racking up a 92-44 win on the road. With Desert Vista ahead 49-28 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Desert Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Swindle, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Trinity Jones, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
Highland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madilyn Gewirtz, who scored seven points along with three blocks. Emilee Searle was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Desert Vista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Highland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Vista will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Gilbert will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to challenge Desert Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Desert Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
