Worcester Academy scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Cushing Academy, 27-16. At the time, the Penguins were ranked 24th in the state, while the Hilltoppers were 171st.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Worcester Academy, who took down 24th ranked Cushing Academy, 27-16.
Phillips Academy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ian Maag threw for 51 yards and Matt Ilalio had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Ryder Stone chipped in 96 yards. Matt Rusk-Kosa helped Phillips Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Stone provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Big Blues bested Phillips Exeter Academy. Stone's key target this week was Ilalio, who caught 2 passes for 20 yards.
Ilalio was the best wideout in NEPSAC Freelance this week as Phillips Academy defeated the Lions. Rusk-Kosa helped Phillips Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Phillips Academy's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Big Blues feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Maag has thrown for 1,031 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Brandon Michel has 20 catches for 359 yards.
Stone of the Leon Modeste's team is only 18 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 140 carries Stone has put up 982 yards this year.
The Big Blues added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Phillips Exeter Academy, 13-12. The victory was the eighth in a row for Phillips Academy.
