On Saturday, Bell Creek Academy came up short against the Flame and fell 65-52. While losing is never fun, Bell Creek Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Flame are ranked 23rd).
Bell Creek Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Jermal Jones and Caleb Sanders. Jones almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds, while Sanders dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Sanders is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyrique Sartin, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Bell Creek Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for West Oaks Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.
Bell Creek Academy will be playing at home against the Ascenders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Oaks Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on February 10th.
