The William Monroe Dragons''s four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They strolled past East Rockingham with points to spare, taking the game 39-25. The win was just what William Monroe needed coming off of a 42-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
William Monroe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davien Griffieth, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bentley Hensley, who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Durrette, who gained 153 total yards and a touchdown.
William Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for East Rockingham, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5.
William Monroe will challenge Harrisonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Harrisonburg is ranked 228th, while William Monroe is ranked 250th). As for East Rockingham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Broadway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
