Basketball Recap: Tensas Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Autrice Vaughn and Shakira Turner

Tensas lost against Vidalia back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tensas Panthers took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vidalia Vikings.

Shakira Turner and Autrice Vaughn certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Turner went 6 for 15 on her way to 16 points, while Vaughn posted nine points and three steals. Turner is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mary-Ana Carter was another key player, putting up four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Tensas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Tensas dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Vidalia, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.

While Tensas had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
