Newton South never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Waltham on Monday. They blew past the Hawks 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Newton South pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Waltham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Newton South will face off against East Boston at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Waltham, they will take on Watertown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
