Maconaquah is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Northwestern is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Braves will host the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Maconaquah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Maconaquah's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Northfield. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Norsemen recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Bennett Isenburg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Isenburg was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kobe Bowman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jack Gochenhour was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northwestern has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.48 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They fell 10-6 to Peru. Northwestern's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Teegan Helmle and Landen Begley stepped up to the plate in a big way. Helmle went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Begley got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Michael Arrick, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Maconaquah's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Maconaquah has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northwestern struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Maconaquah might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from Northwestern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Braves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
