Even though the Ripley Tigers scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Knights still came out on top. Sacred Heart of Jesus sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 victory over Ripley. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Sacred Heart of Jesus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from A J Morman, who scored 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Morman has scored at least 25% of Sacred Heart of Jesus' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keelan Johnson, who scored 16 points.
Sacred Heart of Jesus now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Ripley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Sacred Heart of Jesus will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Trinity Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Ripley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against University School of Jackson at 11:30 a.m. on December 30, 2023. University School of Jackson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
