The Sandia Prep Sundevils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Pecos, falling 52-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sandia Prep has scored all season.
Savannah Lawrence and Maddy Weisler certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Lawrence scored ten points, while Weisler scored ten points. Weisler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Sandia Prep bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Pecos, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Sandia Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against West Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Alexis Pacheco and Emily Cook. Pecos and Penasco will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Penasco is ranked 50th, while Pecos is ranked 74th).
