The Union City Indians will venture away from home to take on the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Union City barely beat Southern Wells the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Raiders on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the contest before.

At the plate, Brianna Williams was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abby Zigler, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.
Union City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Wells only posted an OBP of .345.
Meanwhile, Mississinawa Valley entered their tilt with Russia on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Raiders.
Ella Godfrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Cora Hoggatt and Emma Brock did most of the damage at the plate: Hoggatt scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Brock went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Hoggatt has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Mississinawa Valley pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Union City, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Union City's way against Mississinawa Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Union City made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blackhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
