Fredonia never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They breezed past the Lackawanna Steelers to the tune of 37-0. The Hillbillies' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Fredonia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Utegg led the charge by rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 88 yards and a pair of TDs. Natalia DiPalma was another key rusher, rushing for 63 yards and two scores.
Fredonia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nora Polhamus.
The victory (which was Fredonia's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Fredonia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 38-7 win against Williamsville North on the 1st. Lackawanna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
