The Mar Vista Mariners scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 81-55 margin over Hilltop. Given Mar Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 624th, while Hilltop is ranked 1283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mar Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darius Montgomery, who scored 27 points. The game was Montgomery's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Clark, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Mar Vista's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. As for Hilltop, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Mar Vista will be playing at home against Foothills Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Hilltop, they will head out on the road to face off against Castle Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
